Phantom Wallet announced it will end Sui support on September 24, while Revolut launched its EURR euro stablecoin and Coinbase introduced Bitcoin-backed mortgages for U.S. homebuyers. Regulatory developments also took center stage as India’s Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance postponed its crypto hearing, while Roman Storm’s Tornado Cash retrial was delayed to April 2027. Security remained a key concern following the Cosmos EVM incident and Yearn-related $8.5 million exploit. Meanwhile, tokenisation, crypto-AI applications, and direct crypto trading on X highlighted the industry’s push toward broader adoption. On Ethereum, ACDE #244 advanced Glamsterdam devnet-9 preparations, confirmed upcoming Sepolia and Hoodi fork targets, progressed Hegota EIPs, and continued work on native Account Abstraction and post-quantum readiness.

• Meeting highlights: ACDE #244 focused on preparing Glamsterdam devnet-9, confirming the Sepolia and Hoodi fork targets, finalizing Hegota EIP decisions, reviewing post-quantum readiness and eth_simulateV1 specification gaps, and advancing the EIP-8141 (Frames) and EIP-8130 Account Abstraction collaboration.
• Key decisions: Glamsterdam devnet-9 will launch once all client trunk branches are ready, with Sepolia and Hoodi forks targeted for September 28 and October 26, respectively. EIP-8037’s SELFDESTRUCT gas refill was deferred to Hegota, EIP-7609 and EIP-8058 were dropped, EIP-8360 retained as a placeholder, and EIP-8141 (Frames) received SFI status for Hegota while allowing continued specification changes and L2 collaboration.
• Action items:EL client teams will review eth_simulateV1 specification gaps and submit Hegota preferences by September 9. Milos Costantini and EIP-8037 authors will champion an ephemeral-contract/SELFDESTRUCT replacement EIP within 2–4 weeks, while AA teams continue EIP-8141 vs. EIP-8130 collaboration through weekly breakouts.

AllCoreDevs - Testing #93

• Meeting highlights: ACDE #244 focused on preparing Glamsterdam devnet-9 as a non-finality chaos network, reviewing devnet-8 testing issues, resolving HiveChain and RPC compatibility blockers, and coordinating client readiness for the devnet-9 launch.
• Key decisions: All CL client trunk branches must be merged by Thursday to target the devnet-9 launch early the following week. Devnet-9 will first test the fork transition before entering the chaos phase. HiveChain’s GoEthereum dependency will not be replaced before Glamsterdam, while EELS RPC support will be prioritized for future forks.
• Action items: Lightclient will review and unblock HiveChain Glamsterdam PRs #1589 and #1585 so RPC compatibility tests can proceed. Spencer and the execution-specs team will cut a new release incorporating Pawel’s fuzzing fixes, including the EIP-37 bug fix and EIP-2610 removal.

Encrypt The Mempool #009

• Meeting highlights: Encrypt the Mempool focused on post-quantum (PQ) readiness, validator whitelist governance and attack models, EIP-8105 censorship resistance, and documentation updates. Discussions examined PQ implementation costs and transition requirements, while validator voting emerged as the most practical approach for whitelist governance.
• Key decisions: The EIP-8105 censorship-resistance agenda item was deferred to the next Tech Working Group call when Anders is present. Validator voting was identified as the preferred whitelist governance mechanism, while per-proposer choice and coin votes were considered impractical. The protocol barrier for whitelist entry should remain low, with market competition handling service selection.
• Action items: Jannik Luhn will document whitelist voting options, including continuous vs. change-only voting, delegation and quorum, for the next call. Participants will review Anders’s EIP-8105 CR note, while Boma and Justin Traglia will review or update EL spec PR #5403. The Encrypt the Mempool MarComms Working Group is targeted for August 26, followed by Tech Working Group #10 on September 2.

P2P Networking #007

• Meeting highlights: The meeting focused on client updates across Prysm, Lighthouse, Geth, and Nethermind, alongside research into GossipSub and DOG liveness. Discussions covered partial-column readiness, peer scoring, blob-pool and block-diffusion improvements, security issues identified through AI audits, and potential network-wide liveness attacks.
• Key decisions: Prysm’s Gloas partial-column work is dev-complete and interop-tested, while Lighthouse is considering enabling partial columns on mainnet in its next release. Research showed that DOG and GossipSub can be vulnerable to adversaries exploiting latency and outbound mesh behavior, with proposed mitigations including statistical latency feedback, self-health checks, attestation landing rates, and a “secret buddy” baseline node.
• Action items: Ashah will share Prysm’s peer-scoring design document with the P2P working group before the next call. Csaba will share Geth’s fast block-diffusion design with interested parties on request, while Bosul will publish a summary of AI-audit security issues, including the peer-forced blob recomputation attack.

Ethereum Protocol

Ethereum standards activity remained active this week with movement across Draft, Review, Last Call and Final stages. EIP-4444 returned from Stagnant to Draft, bringing historical data pruning back into active development.

EIP-7773 advanced to Review, while ERC-7945 entered Last Call ahead of its September 8 deadline.
ERC-5516 reached Final, completing its formal standards lifecycle. Developers also continued coordination through ACDE #244, SSZ Engine API #004 and P2P Networking #007.
