This GENIUS Act-approved digital currency, issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A. and supported by Tether, USA₮, brings regulated digital money to a network that is already well-known for real-world stablecoin payments. The launch strengthens Celo's expanding position as a top blockchain for routine financial transactions while introducing native minting, burning, and gas fee functionality from day one.
USA₮ Expands to Celo With Native Network Support
With native mint, burn, and gas currency features available currently, USA₮ has been deployed on Celo. Celo's fee abstraction technology lets users pay gas directly in the USA, in contrast to many blockchain deployments that require users to retain a separate native token for transaction fees.
CIP-64, a Celo protocol design that lets approved ERC-20 tokens operate as gas currency, powers this capability. This eliminates one of the most prevalent obstacles to blockchain adoption by enabling consumers to finish transactions with the same stablecoin they now own.
With this launch, Celo becomes the second blockchain to provide native USA₮ support, following Ethereum. According to Bo Hines, CEO of Tether US, the network currently facilitates widespread use of digital dollars, with hundreds of thousands of users completing transactions daily. The choice to expand to Celo was intentional.
Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., the country's first federally chartered digital asset bank, issues USA₮. The stablecoin is made to adhere to the requirements set forth by the GENIUS Act and is supported by reserves held by Cantor Fitzgerald.

Celo's Stablecoin Ecosystem Continues to Grow
Tether's presence in the Celo ecosystem, which has grown to be one of the most robust blockchain networks for stablecoin activities, is further enhanced by the USA₮ debut.
Based on weekly active users, Celo has developed into the biggest distribution network for USD₮ since its native release in 2024. In the second quarter of 2026, the network had a 67% increase in users and currently handles 28% of all USD₮ transfers across blockchains.
With over 90% of the asset's unique holders, Celo has also established itself as the leading network for XAUt0, the omnichain version of Tether Gold. MiniPay, Opera's stablecoin wallet built solely on Celo, has contributed significantly to this expansion.
According to Marek Olszewski, CEO of Celo Core Co. and co-founder of Celo, the addition of USA₮ adds a federally compliant U.S. dollar stablecoin to the infrastructure already utilised by millions of people for commerce, savings, and remittances. He characterised the collaboration with Anchorage and Tether as an additional step in creating a more user-friendly and effective worldwide on-chain banking system.

Fee Abstraction & Wallet Support Strengthen Everyday Payments
USA₮'s instant integration with the network's fee abstraction paradigm is one of its greatest advantages on Celo. The most popular gas currency is still USD₮, although more than half of all transaction fees on Celo are already paid with stablecoins instead of the native token.
Additionally, the model's recognition in the business has expanded. By adopting the same fee abstraction standard, Ledger, a digital asset security business with over 8 million users, has made stablecoin-powered transactions more feasible for a wider audience.
The USA's use of MiniPay is anticipated to grow significantly. The wallet, which was created by Opera with assistance from Tether, has already added over 18 million users globally. Through collaborations with Visa and Gnosis Pay, it provides access to over 70 Mini Apps, low-cost stablecoin payments, and a virtual payment card with 5% XAUt0 reward. With the addition of USA₮ compatibility, MiniPay will be able to offer more Tether assets than only native USD₮ and XAUt0.
Another wallet designed for easy mobile payments, Valora, currently supports USA₮ on Celo, providing users with an additional way to transfer and receive the stablecoin.

More DeFi Integrations Planned for USA₮ on Celo
Wallets are not the end of the expansion. Additionally, USA₮ is anticipated to be accessible on a number of significant decentralised finance protocols on Celo, such as Morpho via Feather-curated vaults, Squid, Uniswap, and other apps that are anticipated to incorporate the stablecoin soon.
According to Lorenzo Romagnoli, co-founder of USDT0, delivering USA₮ to Celo via USDT0 advances a global, round-the-clock financial environment. In order to enable the upcoming generation of financial applications, he continued, creators and users would have access to stablecoins backed by reliable U.S. dollars that are mobile.
With native gas support, regulatory-focused issuance, growing wallet integrations, increasing DeFi availability, and one of the industry's most active stablecoin ecosystems, USA₮'s Celo launch greatly increases the network's role in facilitating digital dollar payments for both developers and users.
