By providing traders and builders with a self-custodial wallet made for AI-driven on-chain execution, MetaMask Agent Wallet reduces those concerns. Today's official launch combines autonomous execution with spending limitations, protocol limits, risk controls, transaction security, and MEV protection to enable agents to behave within user-defined rules.
MetaMask Agent Wallet Puts Rules Around AI Execution
The MetaMask Agent Wallet is intended for agents with the ability to prepare transactions, reason across protocols, analyse markets, and execute trades under certain circumstances. Instead of granting an AI agent complete access to a wallet, users set the parameters that it can function inside.
Agent frameworks such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, Hermes, OpenCode, Cursor, and others are supported by the wallet. Agents can operate on HyperLiquid and compatible EVM chains, such as Robinhood and Monad, by configuring wallet rules and connecting their preferred framework.
Before permitting an agent to transact, users have the option to specify risk preferences, spend restrictions, and allowlisted protocols. Additionally, Agent Wallet has Guard Mode and Beast Mode, which provide customers varying degrees of execution control.
Agents are able to execute ERC-7821 batch swaps and prepare one-shot trades for trading workflows. Additionally, MetaMask eliminates the requirement that agents possess a network's native token to obtain gas. As MetaMask pays the network charge in the token being transferred, they can exchange and transfer assets.

Security Controls Stay Inside the Wallet
The core of MetaMask's agent wallet strategy is the implementation of user-defined rules at the wallet layer. Transactions involving supported EVMs go through MetaMask's transaction security pipeline before being executed.
Transaction simulation illustrates the expected actions of a transaction before signing, such as gas routing, approvals, and balance adjustments. As a result, users and agents have more insight into the planned transaction before it is executed.
Additionally, the wallet employs Blockaid-powered Transaction Shield threat screening, which has been tested on millions of MetaMask transactions to assist in detecting malicious transactions before they reach the user.
In addition, Smart Transactions MEV protection is intended to facilitate transactions without unnecessarily disclosing value to MEV bots. Transaction Shield offers coverage of up to $10,000 per month for qualified transactions that pass MetaMask's transaction simulation, Blockaid-powered Transaction Shield screening, and Smart Transactions MEV protection, yet nonetheless cause a loss.

Built for Agentic Trading & Autonomous Workflows
Agent Wallet is intended for both builders creating new agentic trading workflows and traders already using AI agents for analysis and research. MetaMask offers an interface based on programmatic execution and specified limits rather than requiring autonomous agents to function through wallet interfaces built around manual clicks.
Additionally, the wallet provides agents with detailed error codes and guidance, enabling them to gradually improve themselves. This is important for autonomous workflows because, instead of stopping at an inexplicable error, an agent can determine why an attempted operation failed and modify its future execution.
Without having to construct the wallet infrastructure themselves, builders may create more competent agentic workflows due to framework connectivity, transaction execution, adjustable permissions, and error reporting.
Faster Agents Without Unchecked Wallet Access
Controlled delegation is the primary concept of MetaMask Agent Wallet. An agent may arrange transactions, monitor markets, analyse opportunities, and act swiftly, but only within user-established parameters.
Instead of treating autonomy as unrestricted financial authority, that paradigm blends self-custody with autonomous execution. While transaction simulation, threat scanning, MEV protection, and eligible Transaction Shield enhance security surrounding supported execution, spend limitations, protocol allowlists, risk preferences, Guard Mode, and Beast Mode dictate how much freedom an agent has.
The wallet is, therefore, more than just an interface for AI agents in the agentic economy that MetaMask is aiming for. It is the layer that provides traders and builders with the means to enable agents to move more quickly without giving them unrestricted control, while also connecting autonomous execution with established user constraints.
