Ethereum core devs tentatively target December 3 for the Fusaka mainnet, following 99 % testnet participation & stable multi-client performance.

Fusaka Nears Completion as Ethereum Devs Tentatively Target December 3 for Mainnet Activation

Ethereum’s Fusaka testnet has achieved near-complete stability with 99 % validator participation, prompting developers to tentatively target December 3 for the mainnet activation. While not officially confirmed, this tentative schedule reflects growing confidence in the network’s readiness and successful multi-client testing.

Fusaka Testnet Progress

The Fusaka Devnet 3 continues to perform exceptionally well, reaching 99% client participation across all execution and consensus clients. As reported by Barnabas Busa, the latest Lighthouse rollout resolved all known issues, ensuring stable performance across the test network.

Sepolia’s first BPO 1 activated recently with a 15-blob cap, and BPO 2 is scheduled in approximately four days. The Hoodi fork will follow shortly, marking another step toward network finalization.

Tentative Mainnet Timeline & Scheduling Debate

During the All Core Devs Execution (ACDE) #223 call, Alex Stokes proposed December 3 as a tentative mainnet activation date, moved earlier from December 17 to avoid holiday-related slowdowns.

The Fusaka BPO timeline now anticipates BPO 1 on Dec 9 and BPO 2 on Jan 7, subject to Hoodi’s successful finalization. Developers broadly supported early scheduling for ecosystem predictability but emphasized that the timeline remains conditional on stable testnet performance.

A related proposal seeks to allow mainnet dates after one successful testnet, a shift from the current rule requiring all testnets to finalize first.
