Whether it’s leading research, driving governance, developing core protocols, or funding the next wave of innovation, these women are making Ethereum stronger, more decentralized, and more inclusive.
As we celebrate their achievements, we also recognize the broader impact of women in Web3 and their crucial role in shaping the digital economies of tomorrow. These ten women stand as an inspiration for future generations of developers, researchers, and leaders who will continue to build and expand the Ethereum ecosystem.
Aya Miyaguchi
Aya Miyaguchi’s journey from a high school teacher in Japan to the President of the Ethereum Foundation (EF) reflects her commitment to decentralization & financial inclusion. Her leadership has significantly shaped Ethereum’s evolution, emphasizing community-driven growth.
Before entering blockchain, Aya spent over a decade teaching, fostering critical thinking among students. Seeking broader impact, she pursued an MBA in the U.S., focusing on sustainable finance. In 2013, she joined Kraken as Managing Director for Japan, working to educate regulators & the public about cryptocurrencies.
In 2018, Aya became EF’s Executive Director, overseeing major initiatives like Ethereum’s transition to proof-of-stake (The Merge). She championed the idea of Ethereum as an "infinite garden"—a decentralized, self-sustaining ecosystem that values organic growth over rigid structures. Her leadership emphasizes reducing asymmetries in power & ensuring Ethereum remains open, permissionless, & inclusive.
In February 2025, she transitioned to EF’s President, focusing on institutional partnerships & expanding the Foundation’s vision. Her leadership continues to inspire Ethereum’s global community, reinforcing its foundational principles of decentralization & innovation.
Hsiao-Wei Wang
Hsiao-Wei Wang’s journey from backend engineering to co-Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation (EF) reflects her dedication to blockchain innovation. Over seven years, she has played a key role in Ethereum’s core research & development.
Starting as a backend engineer, Hsiao-Wei’s curiosity led her to blockchain in 2016. Inspired by Ethereum’s decentralized vision, she joined its research team, contributing to fundamental advancements. Her work has been crucial in Layer 1 scalability, particularly in the proof-of-concept for sharding & the development of the Beacon Chain—key to Ethereum’s transition to proof-of-stake.
Beyond technical contributions, Hsiao-Wei has been instrumental in Ethereum’s community-building efforts, especially in Taiwan. She organized the 2018 Ethereum Sharding Workshop in Taipei, connecting local developers with the global ecosystem. She also actively supports Women in Ethereum Protocol (WiEP), advocating for greater inclusivity in blockchain.
In January 2025, she joined the EF leadership team & was appointed co-Executive Director in March, alongside Tomasz Stańczak. This leadership transition marks a new era, balancing Ethereum’s growth with its decentralized values.
As co-Executive Director, Hsiao-Wei is focused on Ethereum’s scalability, security, & inclusivity. Her leadership ensures that Ethereum’s infrastructure remains robust while fostering innovation for the next generation of developers & users.
Anna Vladi
Anna Vladi is a visionary entrepreneur seamlessly merging traditional finance with blockchain technology. With over 20 years of experience, she has led transformative initiatives in fintech, focusing on inclusivity & decentralization.
Her career includes leadership roles at Accenture, SAP, & McKinsey, where she specialized in strategy, operations, & regulatory compliance. Over the last six years, her focus has shifted toward blockchain, leveraging her expertise to drive impactful projects.
As the founder of METL, a fiat on-ramp for digital assets, Anna developed a Web3 wallet to bridge traditional banking with decentralized finance. She also founded Women4Blockchain, empowering women in the blockchain industry & promoting diversity.
Anna’s educational background in architecture & complex systems informs her analytical approach to problem-solving. Her journey as a legal immigrant to the U.S., escaping communism, has shaped her belief in financial freedom & innovation.
She envisions a future where blockchain & traditional finance coexist, fostering a more inclusive financial system. Through her ventures & advocacy, she continues to push technological boundaries, inspiring ethical innovation in fintech.
Pooja Ranjan
Pooja Ranjan is a key figure in the Ethereum community, known for her leadership in project management & governance.
As the Herder-in-Chief at Ethereum Cat Herders, Pooja plays a vital role in coordinating Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) & network upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions & effective communication among stakeholders. She also hosts PEEPanEIP, an educational podcast breaking down EIPs & protocol updates for the Ethereum community.
Beyond her technical contributions, she actively promotes diversity in blockchain through initiatives like Women in Ethereum Protocol (WiEP), encouraging more women to participate in the Ethereum ecosystem.
Camila Russo
Camila Russo is a financial journalist, author, & entrepreneur who has played a pivotal role in documenting the rise of Ethereum & decentralized finance (DeFi). Her work simplifies complex blockchain concepts, making them accessible to global audiences.
She began her journalism career at El Mercurio, Chile’s largest national newspaper, before moving to Bloomberg News, where she covered emerging markets, European stocks, & digital assets from Buenos Aires, Madrid, & New York. While reporting on Argentina’s economic turmoil, she recognized the potential of decentralized financial systems like Bitcoin & Ethereum.
In 2020, she authored "The Infinite Machine," the first book detailing Ethereum’s history. It explores Ethereum’s early struggles, innovations, & the visionaries behind it, cementing itself as a definitive account of the blockchain’s rise.
Linda Xie
Linda Xie is a leading figure in the cryptocurrency space, seamlessly merging traditional finance expertise with blockchain innovation. Her career reflects a strong foundation in risk management, product development, & crypto investments.
She began her career as a portfolio risk analyst at AIG before joining Coinbase in 2014 as a product manager. At Coinbase, she played a crucial role in making cryptocurrency more accessible, contributing to product development & regulatory compliance efforts.
In 2017, Linda co-founded Scalar Capital, a hedge fund specializing in cryptocurrency investments. As Managing Director, she led the firm’s $20 million fund, focusing on privacy technologies & investing in key blockchain projects. Her work has helped shape the evolving crypto investment landscape.
Currently, Linda remains deeply involved in the crypto ecosystem. She contributes to Farcaster, a decentralized social network, & co-founded Bountycaster, a platform connecting bounty hunters with blockchain projects.
Amanda Cassatt
Amanda Cassatt is an American entrepreneur, marketing executive, and author, renowned for her contributions to the blockchain and Web3 industries. In 2016, Cassatt became the Chief Marketing Officer at ConsenSys.
During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in promoting blockchain technology and expanding the company's global presence. After stepping down from ConsenSys in 2019, Cassatt founded Serotonin, a Web3 marketing agency and product studio that assists companies in navigating the decentralized web.
Laura Shin
Laura Shin is a prominent journalist, author, and podcast host specializing in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors from Stanford University and holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
In 2018, she founded the "Unchained" podcast, where she interviews leading figures in the crypto world, providing insights into how crypto assets and blockchains are transforming various industries.
Taylor Monahan
Taylor Monahan began her career in the film industry but transitioned to web development around 2013–2014, driven by a growing interest in decentralized systems. In 2015, Monahan co-founded MyEtherWallet (MEW). Her work on MEW addressed the complexities users faced during Ethereum's early adoption phase.
Seeking to further improve security and usability, she founded MyCrypto in 2018. As CEO, Monahan led MyCrypto until its acquisition by ConsenSys in 2022, integrating with MetaMask to enhance the Web3 user experience.
Nixo
Nixo is a prominent figure in the Ethereum staking community. She served as the Executive Director of EthStaker, a community-led initiative focused on guiding, educating, and supporting Ethereum stakers to promote network decentralization and security.
In her role, she addressed challenges in the staking landscape, emphasizing the importance of solo staking and client diversity. Nixo is now working for Ethereum Foundation's Protocol Support team, where she continues to advocate for decentralization, privacy, and open-source principles.
