TheDAO Security Fund’s First Funding Round Goes Live with Over $1M for Ethereum Security
500 ETH Ethereum Security QF round launches on Giveth to fund critical ecosystem security projects through community-driven matching.
Press Release
TheDAO Security Fund has launched its first funding round, the Ethereum Security Quadratic Funding (QF) Round, allocating a 500 ETH matching pool (over $1M) to teams working across Ethereum security.
The round is hosted on Giveth and runs from April 23 to May 14, 2026, bringing together a wide range of projects focused on strengthening Ethereum and its Layer 2 ecosystem.
The initiative supports a diverse set of efforts required to maintain and improve Ethereum’s security over time, including smart contract security, wallet safety, infrastructure and monitoring, incident response, research, and security standards.
Rather than relying on 1:1 donation matching, the round uses Quadratic Funding, a model that increases matching to projects with broad community donations. In addition to distributing funding, the round provides a structured way for the community to discover projects that may otherwise remain under the radar. Many of the teams contributing to Ethereum security operate behind the scenes, and this initiative offers a direct path for engagement and support.
Every donation helps signal which projects should receive a larger share of the matching pool.
