Ethereum core developers have officially entered the planning phase for the upcoming Glamsterdam network upgrade, marking the transition from testnet execution to large-scale proposal coordination. With over 31 EIPs now under review, the focus shifts to inclusion, repricing, & feature prioritization before Devcon week.

Non-Headliner EIP Process Kicks Off
For the first time, Ethereum’s “non-headliner” EIP process is being applied to coordinate smaller yet critical proposals within the Glamsterdam fork. Facilitated by Ansgar and Alex Stokes, the model allows EIPs that do not headline the upgrade to progress in parallel with major protocol features.
Developers agreed on a symbolic one-week deadline to signal proposal intent, ensuring all submissions are visible for inclusion in the upcoming Meta EIP. Client representatives emphasized practicality & early feedback over procedural rigidity.
Two-Week Review Timeline & Client Deliverables
Each EL client team has been asked to prepare short opinion documents summarizing their stance on the proposed EIPs by November 6, aligning with the next ACDE meeting. This structured approach enables iterative evaluation, with non-merged drafts still eligible for consideration as long as the intent is formally declared in the discussion threads.
Next Steps toward Final PFI List for Glamsterdam
Following document submission, developers will consolidate client feedback into a unified PFI (Proposed for Inclusion) list to determine which EIPs advance to final testing and spec work. The Glamsterdam upgrade is expected to integrate extensive repricing changes and several execution-layer optimizations once scope consensus is achieved later this quarter.
