Last week broke a three-week buying streak in U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs. According to Farside Investors data, traders pulled a net $462.7 million out between September 8 and September 11. September 10 was the heaviest day by far: $282.7 million out. Ethereum ETFs took in $196.9 million across the same four sessions, and $216.4 million of that landed on Friday alone. The best day for the funds since August 27, per crypto.news.

Daily Outflow Tracking

  • Tuesday, Sep 8 (-$46.6M): Ended a sustained streak of inflows to kick off the shortened trading week.
  • Wednesday, Sep 9 (-$120.2M): Selling slowed down across major providers.
  • Thursday, Sep 10 (-$282.7M): Heavy redemptions hit the market, driven largely by liquidations in ARKB.

Which Funds Lost and Which Gained

ARK 21Shares' ARKB led the drop, shedding $234.2 million over the week. Grayscale's GBTC followed with a loss of $129.1 million, while BlackRock's IBIT and Fidelity's FBTC shed $52.5 million and $50.7 million, respectively. On the Ethereum side, BlackRock's ETHA drew significant interest, netting $148.8 million on Friday alone to finish the week up $139.9 million. The asset manager's staked Ethereum fund (ETHB) added an additional $55.1 million.

Smaller funds also picked up capital, with Solana ETFs bringing in $9.7 million alongside modest gains for XRP products.

What's Coming This Week

Traders are shifting capital into altcoins rather than pulling out of the market entirely. Spot Bitcoin ETFs still hold about $97.6 billion in total assets and roughly $55 billion in cumulative net inflows since launch, with Bitcoin trading near $77,300, per SoSoValue tracking. What happens next depends on a packed week is the Fed's rate decision, the Senate vote on crypto rules, and two more central bank meetings before Friday.

The Senate is set to vote Tuesday on the CLARITY Act. Wednesday brings the Fed's rate decision, one of the most closely watched events of the week.

The Bank of England announces its decision Thursday, widely expected to hold, and the Bank of Japan is expected to lift its rate to 1.25% on Friday. The Fed meets September 15–16 per the Federal Reserve calendar, with the BoE and BoJ decisions following on their published schedules.

Analysts warn of sharp volatility no matter the outcomes. Institutions are already reducing exposure ahead of these macro triggers. Whether that caution turns into a longer pullback depends on what comes out of Washington and the world's major central banks this week.
