Polygon Labs announces the launch of Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta on March 27.
The technology uses zero-knowledge proofs which aims to cryptographic confirmations, enabling platforms to validate mass amounts of transaction data before bundling and confirming them on Ethereum.
It's official:

Polygon zkEVM mainnet will be launched on March 27th! 🔥
After more than a year of intense and inspiring research, development and testing, we are incredibly proud to launch the FIRST EVER zkEVM mainnet!
Join us on this day to celebrate the future of scaling! 💫
Zero-knowldege rollup, a scaling solution that processes transactions faster on a layer 2, then sends the transaction data back to the mainnet blockchain. It uses "proofs" to show that a transaction was not spoofed with by only sharing a piece of information about that transaction.
Security is the highest priority, which is why Polygon zkEVM has been run through a gauntlet of tests and audits. Users and devs can expect full transparency about the security measures that will protect the Ethereum community during Mainnet Beta.
Polygon zkEVM system has hit several milestones noted by the team that are showen in the diagram.
Since the testnet went live there have been deployment of more than 5,000 smart contracts, the generation of over 75,000 zk-proofs, more than 84,000 wallets and two public third-party audits.
Polygon zkEVM is the gold standard for EVM equivalence, it have passed 100% of the Ethereum test vectors that apply to a zkEVM. Developers can directly copy paste code that works on Ethereum and use it to build on Polygon zkEVM without having to change a anything as all Ethereum tooling works seamlessly with Polygon zkEVM.
It doesn’t sacrifice performance for the sake of EVM equivalence instead it’s only getting cheaper and faster to use. Proof times for a batch of hundreds of transactions are quickly near two minutes, with increased output expected in the near future. It’s important to note that proof times dictate delay, not scalability, as Polygon zkEVM can generate proofs in parallel, enabling high output with transactions settling on L1 in just a few minutes.
For both Polygon and Ethereum, Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta is a huge leap. Most exciting thing is that this is only the beginning. That day is not far when ZK innovations will begin to revolutionize every aspect of the Polygon ecosystem.
Over the next few weeks, Polygon Labs will be releasing more details about Mainnet Beta.
