Why Crypto Frauds Are in Focus
Indian law-enforcement agencies have reported a steady increase in cybercrime cases involving cryptocurrencies. These include fake investment schemes, phishing attacks, impersonation scams, and complex financial fraud networks operating across digital platforms.
Cryptocurrencies, due to their speed, borderless nature, and perceived anonymity, are increasingly being exploited by cybercriminals. Many victims are targeted through social media, messaging applications, and fraudulent trading platforms, often without fully understanding how digital assets function.
Authorities continue to emphasise that lack of awareness remains one of the biggest risk factors contributing to crypto-related cyber frauds.
Experts Leading the Session
The CyberSafeLive session will feature two experts from I4C with experience in cybercrime investigation and research:
- Priya Ghurde, Cyber Investigation Specialist, I4C, MHA
- Mahesh Gupta, Cyber Crime Researcher, I4C, MHA
Both speakers are expected to share practical insights drawn from real-world investigations and ongoing cybercrime trends related to cryptocurrency misuse. According to I4C, the live discussion will focus on crypto crimes & money laundering network.
The session is designed for the general public and aims to simplify complex cybercrime concepts for wider understanding.

Reporting Cybercrime in India
I4C has reiterated that victims of cybercrime, including cryptocurrency-related frauds, should report incidents without delay through official channels:
- National Cybercrime Helpline: 1930
- Online Reporting Portal: indiacybercrime.gov.in
Timely reporting helps authorities trace transactions, disrupt criminal networks, and prevent further victimisation. As digital adoption continues to expand across India, initiatives like CyberSafeLive highlight the importance of citizen awareness in building a safer digital environment.
