Ethereum Staking Hits Record 44M ETH
Ethereum staking reaches 43.8 million ETH as BitMine stakes another $390 million, pushing its holdings to $12.78 billion amid rising demand.
Ethereum staking has achieved a new milestone with 43.8 million ETH locked in the network, or 35.9% of its total supply. Institutional investors are raising their staking capital, largely as a result of BitMine's most recent deposit of over $390 million.
Six consecutive quarters of net inflows show sustained demand, and a growing entry queue shows continued interest. However, annualised staking yields have decreased to 2.63%, providing investors with a different return prospect.
Ethereum Staking Reaches 43.8 Million ETH
According to data released by Bitwise, Ethereum staking reached a record high of 43.8 million ETH by the end of the third quarter of 2026. More than one-third of the available ETH is dedicated to staking, as the sum amounts to 35.9% of the cryptocurrency's entire supply.
In the third quarter, net inflows totalled 1.99 million ETH, the sixth consecutive quarter that deposits surpassed outflows. Net inflows totalled almost 7.96 million ETH over the first nine months of 2026, indicating steadily increasing involvement.
Ethereum's proof-of-stake consensus method is supported by staked ETH, which makes this growth significant. Validators commit ETH to support network security and transaction verification. Staking rewards are given to participants in exchange.
The record also shows that participation has changed. Instead of keeping their holdings completely dormant, institutional investors and businesses with sizable Ethereum treasuries are increasingly incorporating staking into their asset management strategy.
BitMine Adds $390 Million to Its Ethereum Stake
BitMine has reinforced this trend by depositing an additional 159,728 ETH, or roughly $390.6 million. With the purchase, its total staked holdings increased to almost 5.23 million ETH, or roughly $12.78 billion at the quoted valuation.
Currently, the company's staked position accounts for 86.5% of its Ethereum treasury. Because of the size of that commitment, staking is a key component of BitMine's strategy, enabling it to support Ethereum validators and collect rewards on a sizable amount of its holdings.
The action also shows how corporate investors are taking a different approach to ETH than traditional short-term trading positions. Rather than depending solely on price growth, BitMine may be able to produce more ETH through staking benefits.
However, staking does not guarantee profits. The value of rewards changes with Ethereum's market price, while withdrawal queues can delay access to funds. BitMine's large allocation therefore reflects a commitment to Ethereum that extends beyond simply holding the cryptocurrency.

In total, #Bitmine has staked 5.23M $ETH($12.78B), 86.5% of its total holdings.

Ethereum Entry Queue Grows as Exit Demand Remains Lower
Ethereum's staking queue provides an additional measure of the existing disparity between new users and those getting ready to withdraw. Approximately 149,000 ETH were waiting to depart staking, while 1.33 million ETH were waiting to enter.
The disparity implies that far more ETH is looking to enter than to withdraw. New players may have to wait for their deposits to become active and start earning prizes if the entrance queue gets longer.
The exit queue functions in the other direction. Before their funds are accessible, validators who want to withdraw must go through Ethereum's exit procedure. It may take longer to obtain staked ETH when exit demand rises.
These waits are crucial for investors since staking is a trade-off between immediate cash and rewards. Large entry queues show demand, but they don't mean that ETH prices will increase on their own.
Additionally, the imbalance can make less ETH instantly available for trading. However, the staking numbers by themselves cannot provide a trustworthy price projection because price fluctuations are dependent on a number of factors, including investor attitude and broader market demand.
Staking Yields Fall to 2.63% as Participation Increases
According to Bitwise, annualised staking returns averaged 2.63% in the third quarter, down from 2.81% in the prior quarter, despite the record amount of ETH being staked. The decrease demonstrates how the economics of staking are evolving as participation increases.
Rewards are dispersed over a greater quantity of staked capital as more ETH enters the validator system. Even if the overall amount of ETH earning rewards rises, the final yield may decrease.
The computation goes beyond the headline yield for institutional holders like BitMine. ETH price volatility, validator performance, operating expenses, and the time needed to access staked assets must all be taken into consideration when calculating the possible return.
According to the most recent data, Ethereum staking is drawing significant cash despite a fall in percentage rewards. BitMine's treasury can be used to produce ETH rewards through staking. Persistent involvement promotes transaction security and validation for the larger network.
Although the financial gain per staked ETH has decreased, the combination of record participation, a sizable entry line, and reduced yields indicates that demand for staking is still high.
