Superchain Now Powers 58.5% of All Ethereum L2 Transactions

The OP Stack-based Superchain secures $21.7 B in assets & drives over half of all Ethereum L2 transactions.

Superchain Now Powers 58.5% of All Ethereum L2 Transactions

What began as a scaling challenge has evolved into a shared mission. The OP Stack has turned Ethereum’s modular vision into reality making blockspace abundant, affordable & accessible for billions.

As of September 2025, the Optimism Superchain continues its strong momentum, powering 58.5% of all Ethereum Layer-2 (L2) transactions, and contributing revenue from 30+ active chains within its growing ecosystem.

Superchain Assets: Billions Secured On-Chain

As of September 1, 2025, the Superchain reported a Total Value Locked (TVL) of $6.3 billion, representing 42.8% of Ethereum’s total L2 TVL. Its Total Value Secured (TVS) stood at $21.7 billion, capturing 39.8% of Ethereum’s L2 share, while stablecoins on the platform reached $5.7 billion, up 2.1% month-over-month.

These figures highlight continued liquidity inflows, deepening trust in Optimism-powered chains, and growing traction among institutional & retail users alike.

Usage Metrics Reflect Expanding Adoption

Daily Superchain transactions climbed to 20.1 million in September 2025, marking a sharp 18.3% increase from the prior month. Even with a 16% drop in daily transaction fees ($198.9K) and a 25.3% dip in DEX volume ($1.7 billion), overall network activity indicates broad user engagement across multiple OP Stack-based rollups.

Collectively, Superchain networks now represent:

  • 58.5% of all Ethereum L2 transactions
  • 54.5% of L2 transaction fees
  • 60.8% of L2 DEX volume

Market Share: The Largest Multi-Chain Ecosystem in Crypto

Between October 2024–September 2025, the Superchain strengthened its dominance with 58.5% L2 market share, a 3.5% rise from last month. Competing ecosystems such as Arbitrum Orbit, Polygon CDK, and ZK Stack continue to grow, but Optimism’s shared revenue model & modular architecture are driving compounding network effects across 30+ chains.

The Superchain’s rapid expansion underscores how Ethereum’s OP Stack has evolved from a scaling framework into a foundational layer for coordinated, revenue-sharing L2 ecosystems, i.e., securing tens of billions in assets & processing 12% of all global crypto transactions daily.
