Recently, a new proposal suggests deploying Aave v3 on the Mantle Network. If approved, this move could open up new opportunities for both Aave users and Mantle enthusiasts. Let’s break it down in simple terms.

Jump to Sections:

What is Aave, Mantel and Why is This Proposal Important?

Aave is one of the most popular decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, enabling users to borrow, lend, and earn interest on their crypto assets. Mantle Network is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum. This means it helps make Ethereum faster and cheaper to use, while still benefiting from Ethereum’s high security. It uses something called optimistic rollups to bundle transactions together and process them off-chain, saving time and costs.

By deploying Aave v3 on Mantle, the platform can tap into Mantle’s growing user base and ecosystem benefits, potentially making DeFi more accessible than ever.

Why Does This Matter for Aave?

Deploying Aave on Mantle brings a host of benefits:

  1. Massive Reach
Thanks to Mantle’s partnership with Bybit, Aave could potentially reach tens of millions of new users, making lending and borrowing simpler and more widely available.

  2. Incentives for Users
Mantle is running an incentive program called Metamorphosis Season 2, which rewards users with tokens and staking opportunities. Aave’s presence in this ecosystem could encourage more people to join the DeFi movement.

  3. Liquidity Support from Mantle
If the proposal is approved, the Mantle team has committed significant resources, including:

    • 20 million USD in USDC/USDT supply
    • 20 million USD in ETH supply
    • 50 million USD in other asset supply
This means there will be plenty of liquidity for Aave users right from the start.
  4. mETH and cmETH Staking
Mantle has its own liquid staking token, mETH, which users can restake into cmETH to earn rewards. By participating, users can benefit from multiple streams of income through staking, restaking, and other rewards.

What’s Next?

Here’s how this process works:

  1. Community Feedback
The proposal, currently in the ARFC (Aave Request for Comments) stage, is open for feedback from the community and service providers.

  2. Snapshot Vote
Once the community agrees, a snapshot vote will determine whether the proposal moves forward.

  3. Final Vote
If the snapshot vote passes, the community will make a final decision through an AIP (Aave Improvement Proposal) vote.

What’s the Risk?

Like any deployment, there are risks involved. However, Mantle plans to collaborate with service providers to ensure risk parameters are carefully designed.

The Bigger Picture

If successful, this deployment will create a win-win for both Aave and Mantle. Aave gets access to a broader audience and deeper liquidity, while Mantle benefits from hosting a leading DeFi platform, solidifying its position in the Ethereum ecosystem.

This proposal reflects the spirit of collaboration and innovation that drives the crypto space. Whether you’re a seasoned DeFi user or just starting your crypto journey, it’s worth keeping an eye on this one.
