Highlights of Ethereum Devs Call

During the ACDC call #126 on January 23, 2024, Ethereum developers, led by Danny Ryan, discussed priorities for the upcoming Electra upgrade. Confirmed EIPs for inclusion in Electra included EIP 6110, EIP 7002, and EIP 7549, focusing on validator deposits, execution layer triggerable exits, and improving consensus vote aggregation efficiency. The team opted not to prioritize EIPs 6914 and 7547 to keep the upgrade narrow. Updates on the Deneb upgrade were shared, with test networks Sepolia and Holesky scheduled for activation.

Discussions on complex EIPs, such as increasing the maximum effective balance and forced transaction inclusion, revealed differing opinions on prioritization. Further discussions on Peer Data Availability Sampling (PeerDAS) were deferred. Additionally, SSZ-related EIPs and proposed changes to the staking reward curve were introduced for consideration in future calls.

  • EIP - 7045 Increase Max Attestation Inclusion Slot
EIP-7045 introduces a crucial Ethereum upgrade, extending attestation inclusion slots for improved security and efficiency. The article delves into its motivation, technical changes, implications, and impact on consensus and security.

  • EIP-1153 and Transient storage
EIP-1153 introduces transient storage, revolutionizing Ethereum's data handling. It addresses gas inefficiencies, enhancing smart contract performance. Explore its impact on inter-frame communication and gas cost efficiency.

  • Eip - 7516 : BLOBBASEFEE opcode
EIP proposes BLOBBASEFEE opcode for smart contracts to manage blob data costs efficiently. It enables trustless accounting and blob gas futures with a gas cost of 2, aligning with conventions, ensuring seamless integration and minimal impact on backward compatibility.

  • EIP-7044- "Perpetually Valid Signed Voluntary Exits on Capella.
EIP-7044 revolutionizes Ethereum's staking by introducing perpetual validity for signed voluntary exits on Capella. This streamlines operations, ensures Consensus Layer compatibility, and mandates transitioning pre-signed exits to the Capella fork domain. The proposal simplifies staking.
