The All Core Developers Consensus (ACDC) Call #160 on July 10, 2025 delivered encouraging news on Fusaka Devnet 2’s stability and confirmed that Devnet 3, scheduled for July 21–22, will be Ethereum’s next “happy-path” test, explicitly ruling out any Devnet 4 in between.

Table of Contents

Devnet 2 Health & Fixes

Daily health checks on Fusaka Devnet 2 revealed peer-to-peer churn and memory issues, particularly affecting Nimbus nodes, that were swiftly addressed midweek. Nimbus and Lodestar deployed patches and ramped up CI testing, while validator participation climbed from about 82 percent to 87 percent. Block proposal success has held above 99.9 percent, signaling a stable environment for further testing.

Devnet 3 Schedule & Spec Freeze

Core developers locked in July 21–22, 2025 for Fusaka Devnet 3’s “happy-path” stress test under near-mainnet conditions. To ensure smooth integration, the spec will freeze by July 17, allowing four days of final validation. This timeline aims to give teams a clear runway for end-to-end testing of transaction throughput, block propagation, and network resilience.

Decision Against Devnet 4

After discussion, participants agreed there will be no intermediate Devnet 4, Devnet 3 alone will bridge testing from Devnet 2 to the next major network upgrades. This streamlined approach reduces complexity and focuses resources on a single comprehensive stress test before moving toward mainnet preparations.

Conclusion

With Fusaka Devnet 2 in a healthy state and Devnet 3 firmly scheduled, Ethereum’s core developers are set to execute a decisive “happy-path” test without diverting effort into an additional network. This focused plan paves the way for robust scaling insights and a smoother transition to mainnet enhancements.
