Ethereum is going through some big changes, and the Ethereum Foundation is bringing in new leadership to keep up. The network has made progress, but competition from other blockchains is growing. These leadership updates are meant to keep Ethereum moving forward—more on that in the article below!
What’s Changing?
The Ethereum Foundation, which plays a key role in supporting and guiding Ethereum’s growth, has restructured its leadership team. Here are the major updates:
-
New Co-Executive Directors:
Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stańczak have been named co-executive directors. This means they will share the top leadership role at the Foundation, helping steer the future of Ethereum. -
Aya Miyaguchi’s New Role:
After years of leading the organization as executive director, Aya Miyaguchi is now taking on the role of president. Her move is seen as a way to focus even more on strategic initiatives for the network. -
Bridging to the World of Finance:
In another interesting twist, Danny Ryan—a well-known Ethereum developer—has joined a new venture called Etherealize. This startup aims to connect Ethereum with traditional financial institutions, helping the blockchain gain more acceptance in the world of finance.
Meet the New Leaders
Hsiao-Wei Wang
Hsiao-Wei has been with the Ethereum Foundation for about seven years. During her time there, she made important contributions to projects like the Beacon Chain (a key part of Ethereum’s new proof-of-stake system) and worked hard to build a strong community, especially in Taiwan. Her deep understanding of Ethereum’s core values makes her a great fit for this leadership role.
Tomasz Stańczak
Tomasz comes to the Foundation with a strong technical background. He founded and leads Nethermind, an organization known for developing software that powers Ethereum. With his experience in building teams and improving network infrastructure, Tomasz is expected to bring fresh ideas—especially around solving challenges like scaling Ethereum (often referred to as “L2 scaling”). His focus on enhancing performance and supporting innovation is something many in the community are excited about.
1/ The Ethereum Foundation is thrilled to welcome Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stanczak as co-Executive Directors. This new leadership structure marks an exciting new chapter in the Foundation's evolution as we continue to support a growing Ethereum ecosystem.

What Does Aya Miyaguchi’s New Role Mean?
Aya Miyaguchi has been a central figure at the Ethereum Foundation for several years. Now stepping into the role of president, she’ll focus on bigger-picture strategies to help Ethereum grow. In her own words, the goal is not for the Foundation to “win” on its own but to help Ethereum—and everyone building on it—thrive as a whole. This change highlights the idea that Ethereum is more like a garden that grows best when many different projects and ideas are allowed to flourish.

Ethereum Meets the World of Traditional Finance
Another exciting development is the creation of Etherealize, a new venture aimed at connecting Ethereum with institutional investors. With Danny Ryan joining as a co-founder, Etherealize is set to act as a bridge between the innovative world of blockchain and the traditional finance sector. This move could help bring more stability and broader acceptance to Ethereum, as it works to show that blockchain technology can be both innovative and reliable.
Why These Changes Matter
These leadership changes come at a key moment for Ethereum. The network has made big improvements, like switching to a greener proof-of-stake system and working on layer-2 solutions to handle more transactions. But there are also challenges, some say Ethereum must stay competitive as blockchains like Solana grow in popularity. The new leadership team is meant to address these concerns, keeping Ethereum innovative, decentralized, and focused on its core values.
The Ethereum Foundation is bringing in leaders who understand both the technology and the community. This will help them better support the many projects in the Ethereum ecosystem. Whether you're new to blockchain or have been involved for a while, these changes aim to boost teamwork, new ideas, and long-term growth.
